Abstract

The emergence and rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has impacted several sectors of society, including the education sector. This commentary discusses the potential integration of AI into the teaching-learning process, briefly addressing some expected benefits and challenges of this relationship. Additionally, how this new tool impacts and/or will impact the educational experience, since this is a fundamental pillar of society and has been continually reconfigured to respond to its socioeconomic and cultural demands. It was concluded, therefore, that Artificial Intelligence emerges as a fundamental pillar for the future of education, as it breaks down linguistic and geographical barriers, promoting a great teaching-learning experience adapted to the diverse needs of students, redefining the way we learn and optimizing access to knowledge. On the other hand, ethical and transparency standards regarding algorithms still represent a challenge, so that responsibility for possible system failures can be defined.
