Holism: The Awakening of an Integral Consciousness

Abstract

This article discusses the human search for meaning and origin, present both in daily life and in scientific investigation. Modernity, by privileging science as the sole form of knowledge, promoted a "disenchantment" of the world, reducing it to a mechanistic vision and marginalizing knowledge considered mythical, magical, or common. However, non-hegemonic forms of knowledge continue to emerge and challenge dominant paradigms, as pointed out by Michel Foucault in his analyses of knowledge, power, and morality. Each historical moment corresponds to an epistemological field that grounds new forms of knowledge. In this context, the article proposes to reflect on the emergence of the holistic paradigm, which consolidated itself at the beginning of the millennium as an epistemological alternative capable of raising new questions and offering answers. The approach seeks revisions and reflections that point towards a planetary culture based on interdependence and the valuing of individuality, bringing together science, experience, and spirituality in an integral vision of reality.
