Abstract

This article discusses the creation of new medical schools in the country and under what conditions: if only where there would be shortages of these professionals or anywhere in the country. This is a process that has been on hold since 2018, and which aimed to control the number of undergraduate medical courses installed in Brazil. It was observed that all the initiatives described here aim to minimize the population's lack of access to quality medical assistance, especially in regions where there is extreme poverty and lack of medical and social assistance.
