Abstract

Poisoning by brown spiders (Loxosceles) or loxoscelism can produce extensive dermonecrosis and bleeding at the bite site. Eventually, it causes systemic reactions that can be lethal. During the evolution pain, ischemia, vasospasm, erythema, edema and paresthesia are intensified. The brown spider bite can cause skin necrosis and rarely systemic involvement and cutaneous-visceral phase that is associated with intravascular hemolysis, which can lead to the patient’s death. In this case report, we have a 77-year-old patient who was admitted to a Regional Hospital in Cariri after the appearance of a painful and erythematous wound in the breast region. Reported a spider bite at the site approximately 20 days ago. During hospitalization evolved with systemic involvement due to extensive soft tissue injury. Two debridements and excision were performed extensive in the breast and thoracic region. Despite all treatments and procedures performed, the patient presented worsening of the condition and did not resist, dying 22 days after admission to the hospital.
